Sepsis Stories
Kenneth Garrett: Died from Sepsis, Age 72
On July 22nd, my 72-year-old husband developed nausea chill and fever. He had these symptoms for several days before he went to see a doctor. He was always pretty healthy but he did have Type 2 diabetes. We got him to a walk-in clinic and they tested him for several conditions and he came back positive for strep. They gave him a shot for that and they wanted me to take him to our hospital to get fluids. He seemed very sick. At the hospital, after evaluation, they admitted him to the ICU. Each day, his condition got worse and they put him on more life-sustaining meds. He died on July 30th from sepsis; he also had pneumonia. What a terrible shock this has been to our family.
